Invest Bangladesh Showcases Investment Opportunities to Global Investors at World Investment Forum in Doha

Oct 26, 2026

Invest Bangladesh today presented Bangladesh’s investment case and a portfolio of infrastructure and manufacturing opportunities at the World Investment Forum 2026 in Doha. Around 100 participants attended the session, including institutional investors, global financiers and representatives of other investment promotion agencies.

The Centre Stage session, “Invest in Bangladesh: The Billion-Dollar Opportunity Hiding in Plain Sight,” took place on Monday, 26 October 2026, from 11:30 to 11:50 am Doha time. It formed part of Invest Bangladesh’s participation in the World Investment Forum, held in Doha from 25 to 27 October 2026, organised by UN Trade and Development (UNCTAD) and hosted by the State of Qatar.

Nahian Rahman Rochi, Member of Invest Bangladesh, who leads the Investment Development Division, delivered the presentation. He outlined how Bangladesh’s young workforce, competitive operating costs and domestic market support opportunities for investment, alongside ongoing work to improve investor services and infrastructure.

The presentation featured industrial-scale solar projects on government land, LNG infrastructure, the proposed Chattogram Free Trade Zone, port facilities and the Matarbari green dockyard. It also highlighted opportunities in electronics, advanced textiles and medical devices, setting out potential routes for participation by developers, operators, investors and financiers.

“Investors wanted to understand how they could participate in the projects we presented. There was also interest from regional partners in exploring opportunities together in economic zones, ports and dry docks. These are investments that can serve Bangladesh’s growing demand while supporting trade across the region. Our follow-up will focus on the requirements of each project and where investors, operators and financing partners can come together,” said Nahian Rahman Rochi.

Invest Bangladesh has also held bilateral meetings with prospective investors. Today’s programme also includes a roundtable on how investment promotion agencies can strengthen coordination.

On the forum’s first day, Invest Bangladesh Chairman Ashik Chowdhury joined a ministerial panel on turning energy-transition priorities into investable projects. He explained how the merger that formed Invest Bangladesh brings investor identification, site preparation, policy coordination and PPP structuring together to advance renewable energy projects. He also answered questions on the Sonagazi solar PPP on underutilised government land and its potential as a replicable model. Invest Bangladesh currently has 15 industrial-scale solar projects in its pipeline to advance through PPPs in the coming months.

At a separate investment ministerial roundtable, the Invest Bangladesh Chairman called for greater recognition of investments’ development impact in emerging economies. He proposed that UNCTAD showcase successful investments and explore risk-sharing mechanisms drawing on investment guarantee and export credit models.
